eWaste Recycling Day

Each year, the PTA and student clubs such as the Clean Campus Club, Interact, THUGS and ASB work together to collect electronic waste and raise money for La Jolla High School.  Community members can drop off unwanted computers, monitors, laptops, TVs, VCRs and other approved electronic devices for recycling (no batteries or appliances).

In 2011, over 26,000 pounds of eWaste was collected and recyled, benefiting the environment and LJHS PTA.  A portion of the funds will be used by the THUGS club (Tree Huggers Uitilizing Green Resources) to purchase classroom recycle bins and supplies for the outdoor campus interactive garden.

If you'd like to volunteer or want more information on this event, check the PTA Volunteer Opportunities page, or contact the eWaste Recycling chairperson listed on the PTA Board Roster.
