| Registration |
Principal Dana Shelburne cites our PTA's well-coordinated and effective registration process as key to getting the new school year off to a great start. Please volunteer to help out with this fun and important event. |
| AP Workshop |
The AP Workshop is the La Jolla High PTA’s primary fundraiser, and usually takes place during October. The College Board contracts with the PTA to provide hospitality services to teachers attending AP Instruction at La Jolla High School. The PTA coordinates and serves a Continental Breakfast, morning snack, and lunch. |
| Hospitality |
A Welcome Lunch, Holiday Breakfast, and Teacher and Staff Appreciation events are all hosted by the PTA. Additionally, the PTA provides refreshments for volunteers and participants at various school meetings and programs. |
| Teacher/Staff Mini-Grants |
Teachers and staff depend on PTA mini-grants to purchase basic supplies such as dictionaries and classic books, materials for science labs, and health supplies for the school nurse. |
| CPR Training |
All La Jolla High Sophomores taking PE second semester receive CPR Training. The PTA purchases the equipment and supplies and provides volunteers to assist the instructors for the classes. |
| Senior Exhibitions |
All Seniors must present a Senior Exhibition project in order to graduate from La Jolla High School. The PTA works with the school administration to schedule the students and recruit and schedule the adult panelists for Senior Exhibitions. |
| eWaste Recycling Day |
Each year, the PTA and student clubs such as the Clean Campus Club, Interact, THUGS and ASB work together to collect electronic waste and raise money for La Jolla High School. Community members can drop off unwanted computers, monitors, laptops, TVs, VCRs and other approved electronic devices for recycling (no batteries or appliances). |
| SPEAK Suicide Prevention Education |
Suicide Prevention Education Awareness Knowledge (SPEAK) is a suicide prevention program contracted through San Diego County Mental Health for the school district's Mental Health Resource Center. SPEAK provides training to parent volunteers, including education on warning signs, protective factors, and strategies for talking to your own children. |
| Reflections |
The National PTA sponsors this arts recognition and achievement program for students. Students may submit entries based on the pre-selected theme in the following areas: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Film/Video Production. The competition takes place in the Fall. |
| Welcome to LJHS |
The LJHS PTA hosts an event in the late Spring for current 8th grade students and their parents (from the public and private schools), to give them an overview of La Jolla High School. This event is held in the evening, with light refreshments provided by PTA. A variety of LJHS teachers and staff members speak to the families about options students will have at LJHS to get involved in activities such as clubs, music, drama, and athletics. |
| Planning for College: A Parent’s Perspective |
Each year, the PTA sponsors an interesting and informative program where a panel of LJHS parents share their experiences in the college application and acceptance process.

There are endless things we want our teens to know before they go off into the world, and PTA has an engaging Senior assembly "LIFE 101" to help. |
| Art Alive LJHS |
Each year, the PTA provides a gift to La Jolla High School. At the end of the the 2010-2011 school year, PTA sponsored a project for AP Art students to create art installations in girls & boys bathrooms.
